Future: will vs. going to

भविष्य: will बनाम going to

English keeps two future forms alive side by side to mark whether a decision was made now or earlier — and Hindi actually draws a related distinction of its own, between the plain future suffix (-ऊँगा/-एगी) and the वाला/वाली होना construction for a pre-formed plan.

Hindi's ordinary future suffix (-ऊँगा/-एगा/-एगी) is exactly what comes out reflexively when you decide something in the moment — मैं ले लूँगा as the phone starts ringing. For something decided in advance, Hindi tends to shift away from the plain future suffix and toward the करने वाला/वाली हूँ construction — literally 'I am about to call her', signaling the plan was already set before this moment. This tracks English's going to closely: both languages have a dedicated form for a prior plan, distinct from the form used for spontaneous, in-the-moment decisions. So your Hindi instinct for when वाला हूँ feels more natural than the plain suffix is actually a fairly reliable guide to when English wants going to over will.
