Framing an opinion before you state it
À mon avis, ... / Je suis d'accord, mais... / Il me semble que...

Hedge with il me semble que or à mon avis rather than flatly asserting je pense que every time — a hedged opinion reads as more considered and appropriate for formal discussion, much like Malayalam speakers soften an opinion with a phrase such as എനിക്ക് തോന്നുന്നത് ('what occurs to me is...') rather than a blunt ഞാൻ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു ('I believe') in careful speech.
