coûter ('to cost') is a regular -er verb, and the question almost always uses the pronoun ça ('this/that') as its subject rather than naming the specific item — Ça coûte combien ? works just as well, with the question word simply moved to the end for a more casual register. Malayalam gets the same vagueness without needing any separate subject pronoun at all: ഇതിന് എത്രയാണ്? (ithinu ethrayaanu?) just combines the dative 'to this' with 'how much is-it', no extra word for 'it' required the way French's ça is required.
