postuler à / pour un poste — applying for a position
J'ai postulé pour ce poste la semaine dernière. (I applied for this position last week)
நான் கடந்த வாரம் இந்த வேலைக்கு விண்ணப்பித்தேன்.
postuler pairs with pour (or, less commonly, à) before the position — postuler pour un emploi, postuler à un poste — and is the standard verb for 'to apply', distinct from candidater (more formal/administrative) and demander (too generic, not used this way). Tamil's விண்ணப்பி doesn't carry a fixed preposition requirement the way postuler does, so treat postuler pour/à as one memorized unit.
