Hindi uses 'से' for unequal comparisons and 'जितना' for equal comparisons — German keeps unequal comparison (als) just as strictly separate from equal comparison (so...wie).

Er ist größer als ich. (He is taller than me/I.)
वह मुझसे लंबा है।
German als matches Hindi's 'से' in its comparative sense — उससे बड़ा, मुझसे लंबा. German grammar prefers the nominative after als (als ich, not an object form), though the object form is also common in casual speech. Note: don't confuse this als with the temporal als ('when', for a single past event, covered later) — they look identical but are completely unrelated.
wie ('as...as') for equal comparison
Er ist so groß wie ich. (He is as tall as me/I.)
वह मुझ जितना लंबा है।
For equal comparisons, German uses so + adjective + wie ('as...as'), never als. Just like Hindi never mixes up 'से' (unequal) and 'जितना' (equal), German keeps als and wie strictly separate: als only after a comparative (-er form), wie only after so + the plain adjective.
