Dates & Calendar
तारीख़ें और कैलेंडर
German dates use a point instead of an "-th"-style suffix on ordinal numbers, and the day-month-year order matches the Indian/British convention, not the American month-day-year order.

Ordinal numbers with a point, not a suffix
der 3. Mai (der dritte Mai) — "the 3rd of May"
3 मई
English marks ordinal numbers with a letter suffix (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th). German just adds a point after the digit (3. Mai) and speaks it as the full ordinal word (dritte). Ordinals 1–19 end in -te (der vierte, the fourth), and from 20 onward in -ste (der zwanzigste, the twentieth), with a few irregular words to memorize (erste first, dritte third, siebte seventh, achte eighth).
Date order: day, then month — like the Indian convention, not the American one
der 3. Mai 2024 / am 3.5.2024
3 मई 2024 / 3.5.2024
In India we write dates day-month-year (3/5/2024 = May 3rd), exactly like German (3.5.2024 = May 3rd). This is the reverse of American English, which puts the month first (5/3/2024 = May 3rd). So Hindi speakers don't need to learn a new logic the way English speakers do — your own date-writing habit already matches German's.
