Economic reports and business writing rely heavily on nominalized phrases like die Erhöhung der Preise, die Steigerung des Umsatzes, or der Rückgang der Nachfrage, instead of unpacking the same idea into a full clause. This is the same Nominalstil pattern seen in the nominalization lesson, just concentrated in one specific register — recognizing a noun ending in -ung as standing in for a whole verb ('prices rose' hidden inside 'the increase of prices') will make reading financial and business texts much easier.
