B1's Konjunktiv II handled present hypotheticals; C1 pushes it into the past — 'if I had known' — by combining the hypothetical auxiliary with a participle, the same layering trick you've now seen in several tenses.

Malayalam builds a past hypothetical by layering markers directly onto the verb: അറിഞ്ഞിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ stacks 'know' plus a perfect marker plus the -എങ്കിൽ conditional suffix into one word. German builds the same layered past-hypothetical meaning by combining the Perfekt pattern from A2 (haben/sein + participle) with the Konjunktiv II forms from B1: hätte instead of habe, wäre instead of bin. Once you recognize hätte/wäre as simply 'the hypothetical version of haben/sein', the rest of the sentence behaves exactly like an ordinary Perfekt sentence you already know how to build.
