Lesson 26.4A2
House & Home
வீடு
Rooms and furniture vocabulary is where the two-way prepositions from this level get real daily use — describing where something is in the house means constantly choosing between motion and location.
Grammar Comparison
இலக்கண ஒப்பீடு
Furniture placement is the natural home of the two-way prepositions
German
Der Tisch steht im Wohnzimmer. (The table stands in the living room — dative, static location)
Tamil
மேசை வரவறையில் இருக்கிறது. (table living-room-இல் is — locative suffix -இல்)
Describing a house is mostly static description, not motion, so expect dative far more often than accusative when talking about furniture and rooms — im Wohnzimmer, im Schlafzimmer, in der Küche, all dative. This lesson is really a chance to drill the 'location, not motion' half of the two-way prepositions lesson with vocabulary you'll use constantly.
