Lesson 26.51A2

Making Plans Together

சேர்ந்து திட்டமிடுதல்

Suggesting an activity and negotiating a plan is a core spoken-exam task — German offers a small toolkit of suggestion phrases that map closely onto how Tamil already floats an idea for group approval.

Grammar Comparison

இலக்கண ஒப்பீடு

Wollen wir...? as a shared-decision question, not a real question about desire

German

Wollen wir ins Kino gehen? (Shall we go to the cinema? — wollen here means 'shall', not literal 'want')

Tamil

நாம் சினிமாவுக்கு போலாமா? (shall-we-go — the -ஆமா suffix invites agreement, not asks about desire either)

German repurposes wollen ('to want') in the wir-form as a suggestion opener, stripped of its literal meaning — much like Tamil's -ஆமா suffix on போலாமா doesn't literally ask 'do you want to', it invites a joint yes/no decision. Recognizing Wollen wir...? as a fixed suggestion-opener, not a question about anyone's desire, will make this exam task feel far more natural.
