Discourse Markers & Hedging

Advanced English softens strong claims with a set of hedging words — arguably, presumably, to some extent — letting a speaker commit to an idea without overstating its certainty.

Hedging words soften a claim without weakening its content
This is arguably the best solution. (still a strong claim, but framed as 'defensible' rather than 'undeniable')
இது ஒருவேளை சிறந்த தீர்வா இருக்கலாம். (a similar softening, achieved through -ஏளை/-ஆம் particles rather than a dedicated adverb)
Tamil softens a confident claim with particles and phrasing like ஒருவேளை ('perhaps') or -ஆம் (hearsay/reported flavor), letting a speaker stay diplomatically uncommitted while still making a point. English reaches for a small set of dedicated hedging adverbs for the same purpose: arguably (defensible, not certain), presumably (a reasonable assumption), and to some extent (partial agreement) all let you commit to an idea's substance while formally distancing yourself from total certainty — a register marker of careful, academic, or diplomatic speech.
