Passive Voice: All Tenses

செயப்பாட்டு வினை — அனைத்து காலங்களிலும்

Every English tense has its own passive form, built by keeping the same be-plus-participle pattern but conjugating be into whichever tense the sentence needs.

Grammar Comparison

Grammar Comparison

Only 'be' changes tense; the participle stays fixed

English

is built (present) / was built (past) / has been built (present perfect) / will be built (future) — built never changes, only be does

Tamil (English explanations)

தமிழில் ஒவ்வொரு காலத்திற்கும் -படு உடன் தனித்தனி இணைப்பு தேவை

Tamil's -படு passive marker attaches directly onto the verb and takes its own tense ending each time — a slightly different combined form per tense. English keeps this much simpler once you see the pattern: the past participle (built, written, seen) never changes at all, and only the helper verb be shifts to whatever tense you need (is/was/has been/will be). Once you know a verb's participle, you can build its passive in any tense just by changing be.
