Prepositions of Time: in, on, at
கால முன்னிடைச் சொற்கள்
The same three prepositions from the Place lesson return for time — but the logic for choosing between them shifts completely, from size of space to size of time period.
Grammar Comparison
இலக்கண ஒப்பீடு
Same three words, a completely different sorting rule
in 2024 (a year) / on Monday (a day) / at 5 o'clock (a precise time)
2024ல் / திங்கட்கிழமை / மணி 5க்கு — Tamil marks all three with essentially the same suffix family
Tamil handles years, days, and precise times with the same small set of location-style suffixes, without needing three unrelated words. English reuses in/on/at from the place lesson, but the rule for picking one is entirely new: in for broad time periods (months, years, seasons), on for days and dates, at for exact clock times. Don't try to map this onto the in/on/at place rules — memorize the time version as its own separate system.
