Hindi formal letters open with आदरणीय महोदय/महोदया ('Respected Sir/Madam') and close with a fixed respectful phrase like भवदीय ('yours respectfully') — already a fairly rigid, formula-driven convention. But French's closing formulas go further still: the closing sentence must echo the exact address term used in the opening, a level of required repetition Hindi's भवदीय doesn't ask for.

But French pushes this further: the closing sentence, Veuillez agréer, Madame, Monsieur, l'expression de mes salutations distinguées, must repeat the exact address term (Madame, Monsieur) used in the opening line — Hindi's भवदीय needs no such echo of the opening महोदय/महोदया. Treat the whole French closing sentence as one memorized block, adjusting only the repeated address term to match your opening.
