राय: सहमति और असहमति

Hindi's मुझे लगता है कि ('it seems to me that') never changes the verb form of the following clause no matter how the opinion is phrased — plainly, negated, or questioned. This is a preview of something genuinely new coming in French: at B2 you'll learn that negating or questioning an opinion verb switches the clause to subjonctif, a mood change Hindi has no mechanism for at all.

Hindi's मुझे लगता है कि is followed by a completely ordinary verb form, तुम सही हो, regardless of whether the opinion is stated plainly, negated, or questioned — Hindi has no grammatical mechanism that changes a following clause's mood based on the speaker's certainty. French je pense que uses the ordinary indicatif here for the same underlying reason: stating an opinion expresses certainty. But at B2 (lesson 40) you'll learn that negating or questioning an opinion verb (je ne pense pas que..., penses-tu que...?) switches the following clause to subjonctif, because doubt is now involved — this is a genuinely new category to build, since nothing in Hindi grammar prepares you for a verb's mood shifting based on how certain the opinion is.
