Softening assertions with the conditionnel — Hindi's चाहूँगा plays the identical softening role

Professional French relies heavily on the conditionnel présent to soften assertions and requests in meetings — je voudrais, il conviendrait de, on pourrait. Hindi reaches for its own softened form to do the identical job: चाहूँगा/चाहूँगी ('would like') instead of the blunter चाहता हूँ ('want'), just as you'd already choose in a Hindi professional setting. French leans on this softening even more consistently in professional registers than casual Hindi speech does, though, so dropping straight into a plain present-tense assertion (मुझे कहना है, 'I have to say') can land as more commanding in a formal French meeting than the equivalent bluntness would in Hindi.
