Summarizing a Text (Résumé)
पाठ का सारांश लिखना (Résumé)
Hindi has its own fixed summary genre, सारांश, with its own set of reporting verbs — लेखक का तर्क है कि ('the author argues that'), लेखक के अनुसार ('according to the author') — that do exactly the same paraphrasing job as French's soutenir que/affirmer que, so the skill of varying your reporting verbs is one you already practice in Hindi.
Grammar Comparison
व्याकरण तुलना
Attributing the author's claims without quoting directly — Hindi's सारांश uses the identical toolkit of reporting verbs
L'auteur soutient que la technologie isole les individus. (The author argues that technology isolates individuals.)
लेखक का तर्क है कि तकनीक लोगों को अलग-थलग कर देती है।
A good résumé paraphrases rather than quotes, using reporting verbs like soutenir que, affirmer que, and suggérer que to attribute ideas to the author while staying in your own words. Hindi's own सारांश genre relies on the identical strategy: लेखक का तर्क है कि, लेखक बताता है कि, and लेखक के अनुसार all do the same attributing job, letting you paraphrase rather than quote. Varying these reporting verbs, rather than repeating लेखक कहता है throughout, is exactly what's expected in a strong Hindi सारांश too — so this entire skill transfers directly, just with new French vocabulary standing in for verbs you already reach for in Hindi.
