Malayalam negates with a single word at the end of the sentence. French famously wraps the verb in two separate negation pieces at once.

Je ne sais pas — literally 'I not know not', with ne and pas surrounding the verb
എനിക്ക് അറിയില്ല — a single word, ഇല്ല, does the whole job
French negation is famously two-part: ne comes before the verb and pas comes after it, and you need both pieces together to negate a sentence. Malayalam does the same job with just one word, ഇല്ല, attached once — there's no equivalent of needing a matching pair.

French has a whole family of negative expressions, and every single one still needs the first half, ne, no matter which second word (jamais, rien, personne) you pair it with. Malayalam mirrors this in its own way — ഇല്ല stays constant while a different word in front of it (ഒരിക്കലും, ഒന്നും, ആരും) supplies the specific meaning.
