Malayalam speakers do something similar in formal office settings, favoring a softened എനിക്ക് ഇത് സൂചിപ്പിക്കണം എന്നുണ്ട് ('I would like to point this out') over the flatter, more direct എനിക്ക് ഇത് പറയണം in a boardroom, even though both are grammatically fine.
