Lesson 38.54B1

Life Plans & Wishes

जीवन-योजनाएँ और इच्छाएँ

Talking about future plans and wishes combines the present-for-future habit learned earlier at this level with Konjunktiv II forms, in a practical, exam-favorite topic.

Grammar Comparison

व्याकरण तुलना

vorhaben + zu-infinitive: making a plan

German

Ich habe vor, nächstes Jahr umzuziehen.

Hindi

मेरी अगले साल घर बदलने की योजना है।

vorhaben is a separable verb (vor-haben) meaning 'to plan/intend', usually with a zu-infinitive clause. Like all separable verbs, vor breaks off and moves to the end of the main clause (Ich habe vor...), while the zu-infinitive of the planned action closes the sentence (...umzuziehen).

Ich würde gerne... not just for hypotheticals, but wishes too

German

Ich würde gerne im Ausland leben.

Hindi

मैं विदेश में रहना बहुत पसंद करूँगा।

The würde + infinitive construction from the Konjunktiv II lesson does double duty here, expressing an aspirational wish rather than a strict hypothetical — very much like Hindi's "...करना बहुत पसंद करूँगा", which is really a polite statement of desire, not a genuine condition.
