Lesson 14.59A1

Exam Writing: An Informal Letter

The second A1 writing task is always a short informal note — an invitation, apology, or request to a friend — built from a fixed skeleton you can reuse for any of the three, filling in only the specific reason.

Grammar Comparison

One skeleton, three purposes

German

Liebe Anna, ... Ich kann leider nicht kommen, weil... Viele Grüße, [name]

Kannada

Every A1 informal letter follows the same three-part skeleton regardless of its purpose: an informal opening (Liebe/Lieber + name), a middle section stating your news, apology, invitation, or request, and a fixed closing (Viele Grüße). The exam rewards recognizing and reusing this skeleton over composing freely — swap only the middle sentence for whichever of the three purposes the prompt asks for, using weil to give your reason exactly as you learned in the subordinate-clauses lesson.
