Lesson 26.54A2
Celebrations & Holidays
ആഘോഷങ്ങളും അവധിദിനങ്ങളും
Talking about birthdays, weddings, and festivals is a recurring A2 topic — and the fixed congratulatory phrases in German work as standalone formulas, exactly like Malayalam's own festival greetings.
Grammar Comparison
വ്യാകരണ താരതമ്യം
Fixed congratulation formulas, not built from scratch
German
Herzlichen Glückwunsch! / Alles Gute zum Geburtstag! (Congratulations! / Happy birthday!)
Malayalam
ആശംസകൾ! / ജന്മദിനാശംസകൾ! (Congratulations! / Birthday greetings!)
Both languages reach for a fixed exclamation rather than a full grammatical sentence when congratulating someone — Herzlichen Glückwunsch doesn't literally build from a subject and verb any more than ആശംസകൾ does. Learn these as complete, unchanging units you can drop into any celebration, the same way you already use them in Malayalam.
