Malayalam marks the same soft-wish-versus-firm-plan distinction by choosing between an ആഗ്രഹം ('desire') construction and a plain future-tense verb. German draws an almost identical line: würde/möchte softens a statement into a wish (from your B1 Konjunktiv II lesson), while werde states an intention as a firm plan (from A2's future tense). Picking the right one signals how committed you actually are, in both languages.
