क्या तुम मेरी पार्टी में आना चाहोगे? — हिंदी में भी आमंत्रण आमतौर पर नरमी से ही पूछा जाता है
Would you like to...? modal-possibility पाठ में देखी गई would की नरमी वाली भूमिका को ही आगे बढ़ाता है — Do you want to...? से यह कहीं ज़्यादा शिष्ट, सामान्य आमंत्रण-रूप है। हिंदी का चाहोगे भी बिलकुल यही काम करता है — यह चाहते हो के मुक़ाबले पहले से ही ज़्यादा नरम सुनाई देता है, इसलिए दोनों भाषाओं में आमंत्रण के लिए एक हल्का, संभावनासूचक क्रिया-रूप चुना जाता है, सीधा वर्तमान नहीं।
