'Nom' es el apellido, no el nombre

En francés 'nom' a secas significa el apellido, y el nombre de pila es 'prénom', literalmente 'pre-nombre'. Como 'nom' se parece a 'nombre', la inversión ocurre continuamente y puede invalidar un formulario oficial. Si tienes dudas, algunos impresos escriben 'nom de famille' por extenso.
