Softening assertions with the conditionnel
Je voudrais souligner que... (I would like to emphasize that...) instead of Je veux souligner que...

Professional French relies heavily on the conditionnel présent (introduced back at B1) to soften assertions and requests in meetings — je voudrais, il conviendrait de, on pourrait — even when the speaker is quite certain. Dropping straight into the présent indicatif (je veux, il faut) can come across as unnecessarily blunt or commanding in a professional context.
