Lesson 12A1
Question Words
प्रश्नवाचक शब्द
Dutch question words each stand as their own distinct word, much like Hindi's — the main new habit is that the verb still jumps to second position right after the question word, same as in any other Dutch sentence.
Grammar Comparison
व्याकरण तुलना
Question word, then verb — always position two
Dutch
Waar woon je? (Where do you live?)
Hindi
तुम कहाँ रहते हो? (क्रिया अंत में)
Hindi keeps the verb at the end even in questions — कहाँ रहते हो literally places रहते हो after कहाँ. Dutch instead treats the question word as filling the sentence's first slot and immediately puts the conjugated verb in second position, right after it: Waar woon je?, not Waar je woont. This is the same verb-second rule from the sentence structure lesson, just triggered by a question word instead of a time word.
