ઉન્નત તુલનાત્મક રચનાઓ: as...as, the...the

સાદા -er/more તુલનાત્મક રૂપોથી આગળ વધીને, અંગ્રેજી પાસે સરખી તુલના માટે એક રચના છે અને બે વસ્તુઓને સાથે-સાથે બદલવા માટે એક જોડિયા રચના છે — એક વાર ઢાંચો પકડાઈ જાય પછી બંનેના ગુજરાતીમાં ખૂબ નજીકના સમાંતર મળી જાય છે.

ગુજરાતીનું જેટલું ('જેટલા પ્રમાણમાં') પોતાની મેળે જ સરખી તુલના બનાવે છે (તેના જેટલો ઊંચો, એટલે કે 'as tall as him'), જે સીધું અંગ્રેજીના as...as સાથે મળે છે. અને ગુજરાતીનું જેટલું...એટલું ('જેટલા પ્રમાણમાં...તેટલા પ્રમાણમાં') બે બદલાતી વસ્તુઓને બરાબર એ જ આકારમાં જોડે છે જે આકારમાં અંગ્રેજીનું the more...the better જોડે છે — લગભગ સંપૂર્ણ મળતી આવતી રચના. એક વાર આ ગુજરાતી ઢાંચા ઓળખાઈ જાય, પછી બંને અંગ્રેજી રચનાઓ નવી નહીં પણ તરત જ ઓળખીતી લાગવી જોઈએ.
