Lesson 26.56A2

Making an Appointment

సమయం నిర్ణయించడం

Booking an appointment by phone is a common A2 listening scenario — the fixed exchange of proposing and confirming a time follows a predictable script in German, matched beat-for-beat by an equally scripted Telugu exchange worth memorizing whole.

Grammar Comparison

వ్యాకరణ పోలిక

A scripted exchange, not open conversation

German

Ich möchte einen Termin vereinbaren. — Passt Ihnen Montag um zehn Uhr? — Ja, das passt gut. (I'd like to make an appointment. — Does Monday at ten suit you? — Yes, that works well.)

Telugu

నాకు ఒక అపాయింట్‌మెంట్ కావాలి. — సోమవారం పది గంటలకి మీకు సరిపోతుందా? — అవును, బాగుంది. (a similarly scripted three-line exchange)

Appointment-booking calls follow an almost identical three-beat script in both languages: state the request, propose/confirm a time, accept. Notice the middle beat's yes/no question, సరిపోతుందా? ('does it suit?'), ends in Telugu's -ఆ question particle attached straight onto the verb సరిపోతుంది ('it suits') — the same suffix that does question duty throughout this course. Because the exam tests recognizing this exact exchange in a listening clip, memorizing the German script as a fixed unit is more useful here than analyzing its grammar piece by piece.
